St. Catherine’s is a small, picturesque island just a 10-minute boat ride away from Rovinj. The quiet secluded bays, pine forests and Mediterranean maquis, cultivated parks, romantic paths and flower gardens make it very inviting for tourists. It’s no wonder it has been a worthy possession of ducks, earls and other nobleman. The magnificent castle of count Milewsky, located at the lowest point of the island, near the church, is a real stunner and is now converted into a lovely hotel.
On the east side, lie most of the hidden, but vivid, rocky beaches. Some of them are known for privacy and are beloved by nudists. An ideal place to lounge and get a tan!
The north-west area is popular for snorkelers, windsurfers and divers. If you are into cliff jumping, you should pay a visit to the famous Gold, Bronze and Silver rocks. The tallest one reaches a high of 15 meters and is nothing for the faint-hearted. You don’t want to miss the view from the high cliffs on the Rovinj harbor!
